Job Title: Packaging Supervisor – Food/ Fresh Produce
Location: Near Howden, East Yorkshire
Salary: £33,696 + Benefits
Hours: 48 hours/week, 5-day rota including weekends and bank holidays
Reporting To: Harvesting Manager
Role Overview
Supporting the Harvesting Management team, you will oversee the daily operations within the packaging facility, ensuring product quality, team efficiency, and full compliance with safety and hygiene standards. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for motivating a team of placers, maintaining high standards, and optimising performance.
Key Responsibilities
Organise and allocate staff and resources for maximum line efficiency
Maintain hygiene, health & safety, and product quality standards
Achieve KPIs related to product placement and presentation
Monitor quality (e.g., weight, size, cut, punnet spec) from belt to pack
Communicate effectively with team and other departments
Supervise, train, and develop team members
Conduct daily reviews of product flow, staffing, and placing accuracy
Report and escalate issues such as quality concerns or disease presence
Lead by example and promote a positive team environment
Ensure belt areas are clean and audit-ready
Support compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, TACCP, VACCP)
Key Requirements
Experience in a supervisory role within fresh produce or food manufacturing
Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and people management abilities
Flexible approach to hours, including weekend and bank holiday working
Basic Food Hygiene certificate required; HACCP training desirable
