Role Overview
Working closely with the Harvesting Manager, you will support the daily running of harvesting operations across the Fresh Produce Facility. This hands-on role includes planning people resources, monitoring picking performance, training teams, and ensuring quality, efficiency, and food safety standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and coach Supervisors, Pickers & Placers to reach target pick rates
- Review daily crop performance and align manning plans with anticipated yields
- Plan labour requirements, including agency cover where necessary
- Maintain high standards for quality, size, weight, and presentation of produce
- Align picking schedules with packhouse sales forecasts
- Monitor picker performance and use disciplinary process where needed
- Input daily picker data for payroll and maintain training records
- Promote food safety and health & safety best practice at all times
- Liaise with other departments (e.g., Engineering, Production) to resolve issues
- Drive continuous improvement across the harvesting function
- Support and implement HACCP, TACCP & VACCP policies
- Contribute to a positive team culture and act as a role model
Key Requirements
- Previous supervisory experience in a fresh produce environment
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
- Numerate with good basic IT proficiency
- Strong team-player with a proactive, flexible approach
