The Workshop Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the workshop, ensuring all engine maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and industry best practice. The role ensures engines are maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines while meeting customer and business commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure certifying staff maintain required approvals, recency, and training.
- Ensure personnel are appropriately trained for approved engine types.
- Manage team development, performance, attendance, and timekeeping.
- Ensure access to approved maintenance data and serviceable tooling.
- Oversee engine maintenance in accordance with manufacturer and Part 145 requirements.
- Allocate labour and resources to achieve agreed turnaround times (TAT).
- Liaise with Planning and Customer Services to ensure realistic and deliverable commitments.
- Prepare and maintain operational reports (labour utilisation, efficiency, capacity).
- Drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery.
- Set and maintain standards for safety, housekeeping, conduct, and discipline.
- Ensure compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) and promote a Just Culture.
- Support audits, address findings, and respond to safety reports.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ management experience within aviation or an MRO environment.
- Minimum 3 years’ hands-on maintenance experience, preferably as a licensed engineer or certifying staff.
- Strong working knowledge of Part 145 regulations and SMS.
- Understanding of workshop health & safety requirements.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
