Position Overview:

As a Property Professional, you will be an integral part of our legal team, managing property-related legal processes to support our lending operations. Liaising with external legal teams and stakeholders and supporting the smooth execution of lending operations. You will work closely with other departments to ensure that all property deals are legally sound, mitigating risks and facilitating the success of our lending initiatives.

Your key responsibilities:

Property Registration: Managing the registration of property charges, resolutions, and debentures via HM Land Registry, Companies House, and other relevant entities.Due Diligence: Conducting detailed reviews of title documents, leases, and property-related legal documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance. Security Preparation: Assisting with the preparation and perfection of security documentation, including charges, debentures, and related agreements. Case Management: Monitoring property-related transactions, maintaining accurate records to ensure timely completions, and dealing with third party agents, valuers, and other law firms. Legal Support: Providing support for property-related tasks, compliance checks, and broader legal matters. Litigated Default Loans: Assisting in the recovery of defaulted loans, including litigation and insolvency claims, to secure recovery. Commercial Contract Work: Supporting the Head of Legal with basic commercial contracts and other legal projects as needed.

About You

To truly excel in this role, you should demonstrate a strong blend of technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of property law and lending processes. This includes the ability to manage complex legal transactions with precision, communicate effectively with both internal teams and external partners, and proactively address any challenges that may arise. You should also showcase excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring all legal requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner, all while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and integrity.

Skills and Experience:

  • A recognised legal qualification or equivalent experience in property law/paralegal work is desirable, but not essential
  • 3-5 years of experience working in-house for a lender, bank, or B2B finance-based organisation, or in a law firm specialising in commercial lending/bridging or structured financing.
  • A strong understanding of commercial lending practices secured lending, and property registration processes.
  • Familiarity with HM Land Registry requirements and related legal processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities with the capability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • A proactive, self-starter attitude with the ability to contribute to process improvements.
  • Willingness to collaborate across teams, provide support as needed, and contribute to the seamless management of security processes and registrations.
