Capi is building the financial infrastructure for emerging markets trade. Backed by $18M+ from top-tier investors like Creandum, Y Combinator, General Catalyst, and angels from Revolut, Checkout, Stripe, and Remitly, we’re building the financial infrastructure that emerging markets deserve. Our mission is to grow GDP in emerging markets by making the global financial system fairer and more accessible. We’re tackling global trade, making it easier for importers to pay their international suppliers. Our platform enables businesses to expand rapidly, create jobs, and be engines of prosperity for their countries.

Our team is made up of approx 100 people across 10 countries; we are a group of highly ambitious, get-it-done people, who like to work hard on something that has a tangible impact in the world. And we’re looking for more people to join our team!

Role Overview

You will join our fast-growing global team as the person who turns payment ideas into live rails. Reporting to the Head of BizOps, this is a unique hybrid role combining deep payments expertise with hands-on operational experience. You will own the end-to-end launch of new payout rails, payments in new sender markets, and new payment products—from technical scoping and provider negotiation through to testing, ops design, and go-live. You will also be a core member of the daily payments team, providing resilience and depth to our payments operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own new rail, product and market launches for Ops
  • Own new payment rails and sender markets once a partner is selected, from the first test transaction to full operational handover
  • Lead structured testing: design test cases, run transactions, document edge cases, and sign off readiness
  • Ensure every new flow fits cleanly within Capi's existing ops processes or adapt processes where needed
  • Be the single owner of all transactions for a new rail or country at launch, building deep knowledge before spreading it to the wider team
  • Train the PaymentOps team once a new rail is stable and ready to be handed over
  • Run daily payments 1-2 times / week
  • Execute customer payments alongside the PaymentOps team each morning and afternoon, ensuring liquidity is in the right places and payments go out on time
  • Troubleshoot complex or stuck payments, working with banks, providers, and customers to resolve them
  • Ensure collections are on track and documentation is complete for each transaction
  • Improve our payment operations
  • Identify process and system improvements that make our payment operations faster, more resilient, and more scalable

About you:

  • Fluent in English; French is a strong plus
  • 4+ years of experience in payments, with solid knowledge of international payment rails (SWIFT, SEPA, stablecoins, card networks, etc)
  • You understand how rails work mechanically — settlement, FX, correspondent flows, compliance controls
  • Operational at heart: you've designed processes, written playbooks, and done the work yourself
  • Rigorous tester — you don't sign off until you're confident the edge cases are covered
  • Clear communicator who can train and document for a non-expert audience
  • Highly organised, ownership-driven, comfortable with ambiguity

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with CNY/CNH payments or Chinese speaking
  • Experience with African or emerging market corridors
  • Experience with stablecoin or crypto rails
  • You care about our mission and believe the current situation facing African businesses is unfair
  • Comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time position with competitive salary, share options, and benefits
  • This is a hybrid position; we are in the office 3 days per week
  • Start date: Q2 2026 - we are aware people will have notice periods, and can adjust as needed
  • Capi is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds. We’re all about building a diverse, inclusive team at Capi.
  • If there’s anything you need to make the interview process easier—whether it’s accessibility support, a different format, or just a heads-up about what to expect—just let us know, we’re happy to help.
