About the job you\’re considering

We\’re looking for designers who thrive in ambiguity, bring clarity through evidence, and turn ideas into impact. Above all, you\’re passionate about how design – combined with data and AI – can create fairer, more inclusive, and more sustainable services.

The products and services we co-create with our clients are often transformational. The answers aren\’t always obvious – we need designers who can simplify complexity without losing depth, and influence direction with confidence.

This is more than a design role – it\’s a chance to grow your craft, shape services used by millions, and join a community pushing the boundaries of design in the age of AI.

You\’re both a designer and a consultant: confident driving conversations, solving problems, and shaping direction for the best outcomes. You understand that design doesn\’t live in isolation – it must connect with business strategy and deliver measurable value.

Your role

• Design and present concepts, journeys, and interfaces, including information architecture, navigation, and flows.
• Translate research and user needs into evidence-based, inclusive design approaches.
• Prototype ideas (from rapid sketches to interactive and coded) to test and validate concepts.
• Facilitate workshops and align direction across business, technology, and delivery teams.
• Communicate complex ideas simply, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Spot opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience.

Your skills and experience

• Ability to link design decisions to measurable business outcomes (e.g. efficiency, revenue, engagement).
• Confidence in framing design as a driver of business strategy, not just delivery.
• Experience building consensus around design vision across business, technology, and leadership stakeholders.
• Experience in user-centred design from discovery to delivery (public sector / GDS experience a plus).
• Strong prototyping skills across different fidelities (paper, digital, coded).
• Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design.

Your security clearance

To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.
Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
Some posts are restricted to sole UK Nationals for security reasons; therefore, you may be asked about your citizenship in the application process.
