About the role you\’re considering

Location: Newbury with travel to London and Reading client sites

Hybrid: 2-3 days in office, with the rest working from home

Capgemini Engineering are looking for a strong, capable Project Manager with experience in the telecommunication sector to join us in our Newbury office, with adhoc travel to client sites in Reading and London. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering against contracts, meeting or exceeding Client expectations, achieving Engagement Targets, identifying and actioning opportunities for additional business, and ensuring that the Project Management Rules are followed on the engagement.

Your Role

The Engagement Manager\’s key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensure 100% Compliancy with UK UPM, UK Project Management Rules and UK Mandatory requirements
  2. Overall responsibility for engagement success and achieving engagement targets e.g. margin (as defined in the Internal View) and delivering to agreed timescales.
  3. Management of the engagement through its lifecycle: Specifically, the project baseline, Risks and Issues in Pre project start-up, start-up, execution and closedown.
  4. Author and owner of the Project Governance Plan (PGP) responsible for compliance to its contents.
  5. Use the standard business processes and prepare business case for complex business requirements.
  6. Management of the monthly financial reporting process including preparation of the ‘Monthly’ Engagement Status in e-Monitoring, attendance at the M Review, management of Client invoicing and supplier payments.
  7. Communications to the project team of the contract including; the project baseline, project status and Client feedback.
  8. Work with key client stakeholders including Operations and delivery teams
  9. Develop the full scope of the solution including Business case, working across various stakeholders to achieve workable delivery.
  10. Support management and finance teams in giving accurate revenue inputs for delivery.
  11. Identifying and following-up on opportunities for additional business.
  12. Ensure an agreed PAR/BCS business case is in place & approved for every deal/change control
  13. Look to improve DVI
  14. Ensure that for all engagements the financial numbers (actuals and forecast) in e-Monitoring/NOP/N2K, are accurate, consistent and complete
  15. Keep the project accountant fully informed of any items that may impact on the financial performance of the Engagement e.g. potential Client issues
  16. Raise accurate invoices, including recoverable expenses and send to the Client within five working days of the end of a milestone or month end as defined in the contract
  17. Ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Skills and Experience

It is expected that Engagement Managers will have demonstrated successfully the following:

  1. Successful project management delivery experience from inception through the delivery lifecycle, to agreed cost, timescales and quality.
  2. Experience working within a Telecommunications/Wireless environment.
  3. Project Management experience, including handling multiple clients, business lines and environments.
  4. Experience within strategic and transformation consulting.
  5. Experience in analysing business requirements.
  6. Delivery to a set of contractual obligations.
  7. Use of a formal project management methodology.
  8. In depth experience of an industry sector, e.g. Telecom Media, Tech Services.
  9. Effective management of distributed teams and differing cultures.
  10. Understanding of the sales process and experience of managing the bid process.

Qualification: Degree in either Engineering, Business, PMP or equivalent practical experience.

An Engagement Manager is expected to have the following work approach:

  1. Flexible about work content and location, and able to work independently with the Client on site.
  2. Work effectively on projects/programmes that could contain a blend of Capgemini, Client and contract staff, and include a range of different stakeholders.
  3. Understand how the Engagement Manager’s role fits in with the other project roles defined in UK UPM
  4. Adhere to their position in the Capgemini governance structure and defined authority levels
  5. Utilise the Capgemini standard methods and tools.

Your Security Clearance

To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.
