This role involves leading Oracle database teams and providing hands-on expertise across Oracle, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL. You will manage and optimise databases, ensure security and reliability, support design and troubleshooting, and implement backup and disaster recovery procedures. The role requires collaboration with technical teams, working in Agile/DevOps environments, supporting cloud and distributed data technologies, and mentoring team members.
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Responsibilities- Must have hands-on experience as Database Administration specifically with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
- Managing an Oracle team.
- Working with database software to find ways to store, organise, and manage data.
- Expert knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL data stores and working with a variety of structures including JSON and XML.
- Experience of software development with distributed data processing technologies including Oracle, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience in keeping databases up to date, troubleshooting, helping with database design, development, and managing database access.
- Experience in designing maintenance procedures and putting them into operation.
- Liaising with programmers, applications operational staff, IT project managers, and other technical staff.
- Managing database security, integrity, and backup procedures, implementing security measures.
- Writing reports, documentation, and operating manuals.
- Testing and modifying databases to ensure that they operate reliably.
- Writing disaster recovery plans and archiving housekeeping data.
- Knowledge of Cloud platforms and serverless architecture preferable.
- Good understanding of software patterns and when/how to apply them.
- Knowledge of Kafka will be advantageous.
- Experience of working in an Agile/DevOps software development environment.
- Ability to help with mentoring tasks.
- Experience in working on support activities.
- Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Oracle database administration.
- Experience leading a database team and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in designing, implementing, and maintaining maintenance procedures.
- Experience with security, integrity, and backup procedures.
- Ability to work in Agile/DevOps environments and support cloud and distributed data technologies.
