Hybrid Working
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Pre-Employment Checks
If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service).
Your Role
- Lead and mentor development teams of software engineers, fostering AI engineering expertise and encouraging the adoption of AI-driven solutions where appropriate.
- Design and document technical Azure Cloud Native solutions that integrate AI and machine learning capabilities, incorporate recommended security practices, and assist with architectural decisions, especially those involving responsible AI adoption.
- Containerise workloads with Docker and orchestrate with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Act as a software engineer and subject matter expert on delivery engagements for clients, taking responsibility for the specification, development, testing, and implementation of complex cloud native and AI-enabled applications built on Azure.
- Help shape and implement delivery best practices across projects, such as branching strategy, testing methodology, CI/CD, and pipelines, with a particular focus on integrating AI model development, validation, and deployment workflows.
- Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, automated testing, deployment and release pipelines, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
- Maintain services once live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, errors, saturation, traffic, and overall system health, including the performance and fairness of deployed AI models. Monitor and optimise applications using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, OpenTelemetry, and Log Analytics.
- Ensure solutions follow secure cloud-native design principles (identity-first, encryption, least privilege, zero trust).
- Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by championing AI-driven improvements that enhance reliability, operational efficiency, and release velocity.
Your Skills And Experience
- Excellent software engineering practices, including a thorough understanding and application of SOLID principles, Domain Driven Design and software design patterns, Test Driven Development, and cloud design patterns, with an emphasis on integrating AI and machine learning best practices where appropriate.
- Experience developing resilient and scalable APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), including those that serve or integrate AI models, and contributing to integration-led transformations and platforms.
- Proven expertise in end-to-end Azure native solution development and delivery, with a focus on Azure PaaS services, and hands‑on experience incorporating Azure AI services (such as Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, and related tools) into cloud native architectures.
- Strong background in .NET and related technologies (C#, .NET 8+, MVC, Entity Framework, Blazor, SQL Backend, etc.).
- Practical experience using Azure DevOps, including the automation and orchestration of both traditional and AI model development, validation, and deployment workflows.
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) practices, ideally using GIT, ARM templates, and Azure DevOps, with an understanding of how these practices support the lifecycle of both software and AI models.
- Experience working in collaborative, agile teams within a commercial environment.
- Excellent client-facing skills: able to engage with both technical and business stakeholders.
- A proactive desire to continually develop your knowledge of emerging technologies, especially in the areas of cloud native engineering and AI/ML advancements.
