As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be part of a growing, client-centric practice shaping the future of public service delivery. This is a hybrid BA/Product role. Depending on the client need and engagement, you may operate as a Business Analyst, in a Product-focused role, or across both, bringing together strong analysis, product thinking, business transformation and change.

You will work with clients to understand complex problems, identify opportunities, shape products and services, and help translate strategic ambition into practical outcomes. You will operate across the lifecycle, from discovery and problem definition through to product/service shaping, delivery, transformation and adoption.

You'll bring a consulting mindset to problem solving, building strong relationships with stakeholders, constructively challenging thinking and helping clients make informed decisions. Most importantly, you'll focus on the outcomes and value we are trying to create, rather than simply the outputs we need to deliver.

You'll be expected to look beyond the immediate problem or project, connecting solutions to wider business goals, technology strategies and the end-to-end landscape. You'll combine attention to detail with big-picture thinking, acting as a trusted advisor who can identify opportunities for innovation, optimisation and sustainable business value.

Hybrid working: This role will be based at our new Hove office. The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home, noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service).

Your role:

  • Leading discovery and analysis across complex business and technology environments, bringing clarity to ambiguity and helping teams identify the right problems to solve while considering the wider business objectives and strategic context.
  • Operating in a Business Analysis and/or Product capacity, flexing your skills to meet the needs of the client and engagement.
  • Understanding customer, user and business needs and translating these into clear outcomes, capabilities, requirements and priorities that align with wider business goals and strategies.
  • Applying product thinking, helping define product and service vision, outcomes, priorities and roadmaps and connecting these to the wider technology and business landscape.
  • Using data, customer insight and evidence to inform decisions, challenge assumptions and support prioritisation.
  • Working closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, UX Designers, Solution Architects, engineers and other disciplines to shape effective end-to-end solutions, understanding how technologies, systems and processes need to work together.
  • Looking beyond technology to understand the wider impact of change across people, process, organisation and ways of working, taking a holistic view of how change creates value for the organisation and its users.
  • Helping clients understand their current state, shape their future state and define the transformation needed to get there, providing informed advice and recommendations on implementation, optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitating workshops and working confidently with stakeholders at all levels, including senior client leaders, vendors and multidisciplinary teams across different portfolios or business areas.
  • Identifying opportunities to create additional client value, including how emerging technologies such as AI can improve products, services and business processes, while recognising where optimisation of existing solutions may deliver greater value.
  • Contributing to strategies, roadmaps and business cases, combining an understanding of proven solutions with awareness of emerging technologies and innovation.
  • Operating as a trusted advisor, using your expertise and influence to challenge constructively, shape decisions and recommend solutions that balance business, user and technology needs.
  • Supporting and developing others while contributing to the continued evolution of our BA and wider multidisciplinary capability.

Your skills and experience:

  • We are looking for experienced Business Analysts who are comfortable operating beyond the boundaries of a traditional BA role.
  • You may be a strong BA who has developed Product experience, already work across BA and Product, or have experience that gives you the capability to move between the two.
  • You do not need to have held both job titles. What matters is your ability to adapt your approach around the problem, client and engagement, moving confidently between detailed analysis, technical considerations and wider strategic and business outcomes.
  • You will ideally have experience of the following:
    • Business analysis within complex digital, technology or transformation programmes, with the ability to connect individual projects and solutions to wider business and technology objectives.
    • Working in BA and/or Product environments, particularly on user-centred products or services.
    • Discovery, problem definition, requirements analysis and process or service improvement.
    • Applying Product principles such as customer outcomes, value, prioritisation and roadmaps.
    • Working within multidisciplinary teams across business, technology, UX and delivery and collaborating across organisational or portfolio boundaries.
    • Understanding the wider implications of business and technology change, including dependencies between systems, processes, people and organisational objectives.
    • Building collaborative relationships and influencing stakeholders at different levels, using your expertise to provide constructive challenge, advice and recommendations.
    • Identifying opportunities for innovation and optimisation, balancing emerging technologies with proven solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Working with ambiguity and moving comfortably between strategic thinking and delivery detail.
    • Contributing to future-state thinking, transformation roadmaps and business cases, helping clients move from an identified problem through to a clear and achievable course of action.

Experience within the Public Sector or another complex, regulated environment would be beneficial, as would relevant Business Analysis, Product or Change qualifications. Above all, you will bring curiosity, adaptability and a desire to solve the right problem, combining the rigour of Business Analysis with the customer and outcome focus of Product. You'll be equally comfortable taking the detail and stepping back to see the bigger picture, connecting business, technology and people to create lasting value for our clients.
