About the job you\’re considering

We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative Desktop Engineer to join our End User Services team. In this second-line support role, you’ll play a key part in resolving incidents, fulfilling service requests, and contributing to projects that improve the user experience across our organisation.

You’ll work closely with the Service Desk, Level 3 teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective support. This is a hands-on rolewhere your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will make a real impact.

This role is required to be on site 5 days per week in Salisbury

If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including:
identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)

Your role

  • Take ownership of second-line incident resolution, meeting agreed SLAs
  • Complete IMACs (Install, Move, Add, Change) and service requests efficiently
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure smooth escalations and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to project work and non-standard requests (NSRs) as assigned
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction (CSAT) scores—targeting 4.5+ out of 5
  • Help identify opportunities for automation and service improvement

Your skills and experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Intune and Windows 10/11
  • Familiarity with desktop and laptop hardware architecture
  • Basic administration experience with SCCM (MECM) and Active Directory
  • Understanding of network technologies including LAN, WAN, VLAN, and Wi-Fi
  • Awareness of security practices, including disk encryption (e.g., BitLocker)
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for helping others solve problems

Your security clearance

To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.
Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
Some posts are restricted to sole UK Nationals for security reasons; therefore, you may be asked about your citizenship in the application process.
