Your Role

As an Engineering Science Consultant within our Utilities Practice team, you will work with thought leaders across utilities, power companies, renewable generators, and their supply chain ecosystem, utilising data and AI to improve operational performance, support sustainability goals, and accelerate the transition to a more resilient and sustainable future. You will work with engineers, OT/IoT specialists, environmental scientists, data scientists, and digital specialists to develop solutions that transform complex environmental and operational data into actionable insights.

In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and delivering solutions. Your activities might include:

  • Working with asset, operational, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making
  • Building analytical and AI solutions for environmental and utility-sector challenges
  • Developing data pipelines and workflows for operational, sensor, and engineering datasets
  • Applying machine learning, statistical modelling, and optimisation techniques to large-scale datasets
  • Supporting sustainability, environmental monitoring, and regulatory reporting initiatives
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Creating robust, scalable software solutions that integrate data science capabilities into production environments
  • Performing exploratory data analysis and visualisation to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Developing dashboards, visualisations, and digital decision-support tools
  • Implementing and optimising algorithms for data processing, feature extraction, and model training

Your Profile

Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline. Particularly relevant disciplines include Environmental Engineering, Energy Systems, Power Systems Engineering, or related fields.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using Python, R, or other analytical programming languages on real-world datasets
  • Experience performing data analysis, modelling, or statistical assessment

Desirable

  • Knowledge of power systems, energy networks, smart grids, or renewable generation technologies
  • Experience working with geospatial, environmental, operational technology (OT), or IoT datasets
