Your role:

As part of Capgemini Invent's continued growth in the public sector, we are seeking proven management consultants to join our award‐winning team. Base locations can be either London, Manchester or Glasgow with an expectation of regular travel to client sites as part of our hybrid working pattern. Successful consultants need to be able to demonstrate proven ability to deliver results and drive change for public sector clients.

Our focus sub‐sectors include Central Government, Health, Defence and Education. Relevant and transferable experience outside of these sub‐sectors is also welcomed.

In this role you will play a key role in:

  • Delivering excellent service to public sector clients as senior members of our project teams.
  • Taking responsibility for end‐to‐end management of projects or complex workstreams to cost, time and quality, effectively managing risks/issues. This will include obtaining Capgemini Engagement Manager certification.
  • Managing, supporting and developing colleagues to deliver excellent client service, quality assuring their work as required.
  • Interfacing with mid to senior client stakeholders and building effective client relationships.
  • Supporting business growth through development of your client network and proactive identification of client needs in a sell‐deliver model. Business development is a key part of your role and you’ll also lead on proposal development and bidding activities.
  • Building strong Capgemini communities through active contribution to practice development, knowledge management and collaboration with colleagues.

As part of your role you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the business and your own personal growth through activities that form part of the following categories:

  • Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events.
  • Internal contribution – Campaign development, internal think‐tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development.
  • Learning & development – Training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications etc.
  • People leadership – formal people management responsibility for a number of colleagues, supporting their professional development and assessing their performance as part of our people leadership community.

Your profile:

You will already have experience of leading or supporting programmes and projects in the public sector from a major consulting firm. You will be experienced at working in a matrixed organisation.

We maintain increasingly high standards for our consultants and require candidates with:

  • Proven intellectual strength. You’ll be educated to degree level or equivalent, with strong evidence of continued professional development.
  • A broad consulting skillset which is likely to include a combination of:
  • Evidence of excellent project delivery in the public sector, with experience of agile and waterfall delivery methods.
  • Evidence of project leadership, including management of risks/issues, managing team members and the commercial aspects of delivery.
  • Evidence of holding and managing mid to senior level client stakeholder relationships and a deep understanding of public sector cultures and ways of working.
  • Evidence of a strong analytical mindset and the application of relevant frameworks to identify business pain points, user needs and develop solutions.
  • Evidence of an understanding of, and practical application of aspects of transformation design and delivery which may include: target operating model design and implementation; business analysis methods; operational excellence methods; change management; business case development; benefits realisation; portfolio, programme and project delivery.
  • Excellent presentation and articulation skills. You’ll demonstrate outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex problems or solutions.
  • High levels of emotional intelligence. Evidence of strong people leadership and an ability to influence and align internal and external stakeholders to outcomes.
  • Good understanding of the commercial aspects of consultancy, which may include evidence of scoping and pricing work packages, managing the commercial performance of projects or bidding for public sector contracts.
  • Collaborative mindset and experience leading/working in mixed capability teams to deliver excellent client outcomes.
  • A growth mindset and evidence of continuous development to support your best advice to clients.
  • Formal certifications are beneficial but not essential. Relevant certifications will include: APM or other programme/project delivery certifications; PROSCI or other change management certifications; SCRUM or other Agile certifications; Better Business Case accreditations; LEAN or equivalent certifications.
