Capgemini Engineering are looking to recruit a Design and FE Automation Engineer with particular focus on automating tasks within design and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) processes for aircraft structures, using tools like NX, Nastran, HyperMesh, and programming languages like C#, Python and TCL.

As an Automation engineer you will be involved in developing and implementing automated solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in design and structural analysis, including model building, analysis execution, and results processing. In this role you will play a key role in:

  • Creating automated design workflows using CAD tools like NX, Catia or similar.
  • Developing and maintaining automated FEA applications, including pre-processing, simulation execution, and post-processing using tools like HyperMesh, Abaqus or similar.
  • Utilizing scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating tasks, data manipulation, and integration with other tools.
  • Understanding and potentially developing solutions for distributed FEA simulations, leveraging knowledge of communication protocols and frameworks.
  • Working closely with designers, FEA experts, stress engineers, and other software developers to devise automated workflow solutions.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for automated processes, tools, and software.

Your Profile:

  • A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a specialization in Numerical analysis or Computational mechanics.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C# and Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and propose innovative solutions.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to communicate and report at different levels.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, or Powershell.
  • Experience in software design, testing (unit, system, and integration), and version control (Git).
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately to follow client needs.
  • Team player, able to work effectively and to short timescales with others in a busy environment.
  • Understanding of efficient and robust design methods.
  • Understanding of FEA principles, including meshing, boundary conditions, and result interpretation.
