Non-conformance stress engineer – Aerospace/Marine – In-Service & Manufacturing.

Our Offer

Capgemini Engineering are looking to recruit Stress Engineers with knowledge of non-conformance within an aerospace/marine engineering background.

Your Role

  • Assess the structural and functional impact of non-conformances on turbine blades, vanes, segment liners, and associated engine components, determining compliance with design intent, airworthiness requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Evaluate manufacturing and in-service deviations, identifying their effect on component integrity, durability, performance, and overall engine/system-level behaviour.
  • Develop, justify, and approve concession and repair dispositions through clear, technically robust engineering assessments and documented rationale.
  • Perform analytical hand calculations to support engineering judgments, validate assumptions, and substantiate non-conformance assessments.
  • Conduct finite element (FE) analyses to evaluate stress, strain, deformation, fatigue, and life implications of defects, repairs, and concessions.
  • Interpret and assess engineering drawings, geometric tolerancing, design definitions, and manufacturing requirements to support disposition activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering procedures, quality requirements, certification standards, and customer specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Non-Conformance teams to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles to assess producibility and support practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Review and apply manufacturing, inspection, and quality specifications, ensuring appropriate engineering requirements and disposition notes are defined.
  • Perform detailed post-processing of analytical results, generating clear technical outputs and evidence to support engineering decisions.
  • Carry out a range of structural assessments, including static strength, low-cycle fatigue (LCF), high-cycle fatigue (HCF), vibration response, creep, life assessment, fracture mechanics, and design optimisation studies.

Your Profile

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering/scientific discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in stress analysis and structural assessment of aerospace components, preferably within aero-engine systems.
  • Strong domain expertise in gas turbine engine components, particularly turbine blades, vanes, shrouds, and segment liners.
  • Proven experience assessing manufacturing non-conformances, concessions, repairs, and service-induced damage within a regulated aerospace environment.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, including casting, forging, machining, welding, brazing, coating systems, and additive manufacturing.
  • Experience performing finite element analysis and interpreting results to support structural integrity assessments.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, dynamic response, and fatigue assessment methodologies.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, producibility, quality assurance, and concession management processes.
  • Ability to rapidly assess complex engineering problems and deliver accurate, pragmatic solutions within demanding timescales.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience liaising across multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
