Capgemini Engineering is recruiting a High-Performance Materials Engineer with a focus on composite materials to join the existing Materials and Process Team. The role will support operations of both industry leading and new emergent companies in the aerospace sector.
Responsibilities
- Working directly on-site or remotely with the customer, you will take a key role in delivering Capgemini Engineering and customer projects.
- The candidate will be expected to utilise engineering principles and knowledge to support a wider range of topics – with an emphasis on, but not limited to, carbon fibre primary structure applications in conjunction with aerospace metallic materials and manufacturing principles.
- Developing and providing materials design guidance from first principles, covering predominantly:
- Composite materials / Reinforced Plastic
- Adhesive bonding
- Mechanical fastening
- Aerospace primary and secondary structure applications
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other relevant fields with specialization in composites.
Experience
- Experience in aerospace engineering with a focus on composite materials is desirable.
- Experience in managing and generating documentation for material qualification and certification procedures.
- Experience in developing and implementing manufacturing process specifications and material specifications.
- High competence in at least one of the above technical areas, with demonstrable ability across the remaining areas desirable.
- Strong knowledge of materials science, including composite materials, material compatibility, surface protection practices, and material qualification processes.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage Jira boards and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with the core team and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and the ability to generate precise and comprehensive documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and priorities.
