The consultant will work in a close relationship with customers to support major aerospace engineering technical departments. The candidate will be required to provide technical support across a wide range of technical topics to meet the dynamic technical pressures of a fast-paced industry, largely covering:

  • Airline support
  • Support to production
  • Certification
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Material and Part Qualification
  • Innovation, Product and Material Development

The consultant will lead projects managerially and technically, demonstrating personal and group management abilities. Our projects span across multiple technical disciplinary roles, with a certain degree of overlap in each – mirroring the complex systems we help to deliver. Therefore, versatility and the ability to apply base principles across different engineering topics is essential. Engineers will be challenged to meet the needs of multiple projects simultaneously – managing priorities, risks and blockages.

The role mainly entails support to development and qualification of mechanical components, materials and processes concerning fastening and assembly topics. From need capture to aircraft implementation, including the following:

  • Identify and capture designer needs
  • Support design development – capture of needs
  • Project planning and execution
  • Engagement with relevant stakeholders to define and manage qualification and certification process
  • Conduct, supervise and manage counter tests and shop trial campaigns
  • Follow up Environmental Health and Safety evaluation and certification
  • Validate supplier and customer inputs with respect to the technical requirements
  • Take ownership of tasks while reporting on progress to relevant teams and in relevant tools

Qualifications:

  • MEng / MSc Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • MSc in Material Science
  • Relevant professional experience shall be considered

Required Skills:

  • Experience in Mechanical and/or Material engineering
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Understanding of technical requirements
  • Use of technical documents (Specifications, Standards, Processes, Test Methods)
  • Technical analysis and validation of test campaigns and results with regard to requirements
  • Report writing

Any experience practical or otherwise in the following would be a positive (relevance in descending order). Both candidates with a range of experience across many of the below and those with specific competencies in single topics are welcome:

  • Aerospace fastening systems/products, principles and processes
  • Aerospace primary structure assembly methods
  • Standard and specialised fastener test methods
  • Blind fastening
  • Current and future EHS concerns
