About the job you’re considering
Hybrid Intelligence, a Capgemini Engineering team, is looking for a R&D Sales Director within their Expert Sales team with a background in life sciences (Biopharma, MedTech, …) R&D and proven track record in engaging with potential clients to understand their business, shape winning proposals and delivering solutions for high-value technical consultancy and analytics. Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
The Hybrid Intelligence team are based in Abingdon, Warrington, Ashby and Stevenage; we can be flexible on your base office location.
Your Role
You will be responsible for building Hybrid Intelligence’s sales pipeline (bookings) in R&D for Life Sciences clients, working closely with the Capgemini Engineering Account Managers and Client Partners. Your activities will include:
- Define and prosecute effective sales strategies and plans (new business development and existing client management) in conjunction with the Capgemini Client Partners to meet bookings targets for Hybrid Intelligence offers and capabilities within a defined account portfolio.
- Collaborate and bring key parties together within Capgemini UK (business lines, geographies, market unit) to drive booking and revenue growth for Hybrid Intelligence’s specialist capabilities.
- Pitching our offers, capabilities, and services centred on Virtual R&D to potential Life Sciences clients often alongside, technical architects and other experts by providing technical knowledge and domain experience that demonstrates our credibility.
- Understand industry and specific client needs and identify a winning strategy and solution/delivery approach tailored to these.
- Building and leading the right bid team for an opportunity by bringing in the right experts from across the global Hybrid Intelligence team to create winning proposals.
Our projects tend to involve complex, consultative sales, so you will need to be comfortable talking to both clients and internal technical teams and use strong influencing skills to ensure we shape the right solutions for our clients.
You must be comfortable traveling to meet with prospects and customers across the UK. You will be selling the capabilities of our highly skilled consultants, so regular contact with them will be critical to your success – therefore you be expected to work out of one our offices on a regular basis.

Your skills and experience
We are looking for a driven, self-motivated, and proactive individual who enjoys understanding and helping R&D clients with the following attributes:
- BS, MS or PhD in a numerate subject such as science, mathematics, or engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A good understanding of the challenges faced by R&D in life sciences firms
- Knowledge of the key concepts of a broad range of technologies, data science techniques and software development in the R&D space, including how these can be used to solve real research and industry challenges.
- The ability to drive technology-intensive conversations with clients and colleagues at all levels and act as a bridge to explain and make technology relevant to non-technical stakeholders.
- A track record of relationship building with senior R&D stakeholders and CxO’s
- Able to operate with a high degree of independence as well as being part of a team.
- Consultative selling or delivery experience including exposure to sizeable deals and complex programmes in the Life Sciences industry
- Experience of managing a (sales) target including opportunity qualification, bid management, and defining winning sales plans with discipline would be an advantage.
- An existing network of contacts inside life sciences organisations would be an advantage.
- Ability to travel nationally on a regular basis and as required internationally.
