Capgemini Engineering is recruiting an Aerospace Metallic Materials Engineer to join the existing Materials and Process Team. The role will support operations and activities around existing and new technologies in aerospace applications.

Your Role

Working directly on-site or remotely with the customer, you will take a key role in delivering Capgemini Engineering and customer projects. The candidate will be expected to utilise engineering principles and knowledge to support a wider range of topics – with an emphasis on, but not limited to, aerospace metallic materials and manufacturing principles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, evaluating and providing materials design and process guidance from first principles, covering predominantly:
  • Aluminium
  • Steels
  • Titanium Grades, heat treatments, surface treatments of the above
  • Applications including:
    • Power systems – propeller, rotors
    • Landing gear
    • Hybrid primary and secondary structures
  • Developing Manufacturing Engineering processes
  • Joining and assembly techniques
  • Galvanic and anti-corrosion assessment and methodologies
  • Repairs and rectification, non-conformance analysis
  • Feedback and analysis to meet design goals while respecting manufacturing and supply limitations
  • Support Materials and Process control
  • Develop approved Materials and Processes lists
  • Providing further bespoke materials and process guidance and support
  • Defining, planning and executing test campaigns in support of the above
  • Developing internal standards and governing documents to support appropriate engineering and product development in line with the above activities
  • Your Profile

    Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Materials or Manufacturing Engineering (other relevant subject areas considered). High competence in the above technical areas. Previous aerospace or high performance automotive experience is desirable. Shop floor experience is desirable.
