CapEx Recruitment is partnering with a leading specialist provider of mechanical, electrical, control and automation solutions servicing major utilities and critical infrastructure markets. Our client combines in-house design, manufacturing and project delivery to support complex engineering outcomes across power, data infrastructure and essential utility sectors.
The Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support multidisciplinary design activities within high-value capital projects. This role offers exposure to diverse technical challenges across utilities and infrastructure, working with cross-functional teams to deliver coordinated mechanical design outputs from early concept through to commissioning support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical design solutions for infrastructure assets aligned to project requirements
- Produce and coordinate 3D models and technical documentation
- Prepare layouts, equipment specifications, schedules and calculations
- Support engagement with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to design submissions for review and approvals
- Attend design and project progress meetings as required
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary design team
What We're Looking For
- Mechanical engineering qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent)
- Minimum ~4 years experience in mechanical or plant design engineering
- Proficiency with 3D design tools (Revit, Inventor, SolidWorks or similar)
- Experience with fabrication-focused design and deliverables
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary technical teams
- Solutions-oriented and proactive mindset
- Experience with infrastructure sectors (e.g., utilities, systems integration, manufacturing design environments) and familiarity with BIM workflows would be advantageous.
