Capex Recruitment are partnering with a leading Tier 1 main contractor to recruit an experienced Commercial Manager to join their civil engineering division. This is a senior appointment offering responsibility across a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure and civils projects, with flexibility for candidates based anywhere in Ireland. Hybrid working is available, and travel to Dublin will be required on occasion, with accommodation provided where necessary.
The Role
- As Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of the commercial performance across multiple civil engineering projects, working closely with operational and senior leadership teams to ensure strong financial control and project delivery.
- Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading commercial management across a portfolio of civil engineering projects
- Overseeing cost reporting, forecasting, and CVR preparation at project and business level
- Managing contract administration under NEC and other standard forms
- Providing commercial leadership and support to senior QS and project teams
- Driving value management, risk mitigation and commercial performance improvements
- Leading negotiations with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders
- Overseeing procurement strategy and subcontractor engagement
- Ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across all live projects
- Supporting project teams to align commercial strategy with delivery objectives
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will either be an established Commercial Manager or a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong civils exposure ready to step up. Applicants should demonstrate:
- Experience in a Commercial Manager role OR extensive senior-level QS experience in civils
- Strong background in civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Excellent understanding of NEC and other construction contracts
- Proven leadership experience across commercial teams or major projects
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
- High level of commercial awareness and financial acumen
- Ability to operate effectively within a Tier 1 contractor environment
