An exciting opportunity has arisen at Capel Manor College for a practical instructor who will support the teaching staff within the range of floristry and event management courses.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Receiving, maintaining and preparing the equipment and fresh materials for classroom-based practical activities as guided by the teacher.
- Ensuring the safe return of all equipment to the store/fridge in a clean and satisfactory condition.
- Supporting the provision with practical demonstrations and technical instruction to students.
- Assisting with the supervision of students, including work experience and volunteering, particularly around peak periods of the industry.
- Assisting with the assessment of students’ practical abilities.
- Ensuring that all requirements and regulations relating to health and safety are adhered to at all times.
- Maintaining the health and safety of students whilst undertaking practical sessions.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for floristry and events, and for instructing and sharing their experience and knowledge. They will provide high-quality demonstrations on the College’s floristry and event management courses and ensure effective learning for students. This will involve:
- Preparing and delivering stimulating lessons.
- Setting goals that stretch and challenge all students.
- Monitoring and assessing student progress.
- Giving feedback and consistently demonstrating the positive attitudes, values and behaviours expected of students.
