Do you have a love of the English language and can explain the difference between a verb and an adverb, a pronoun and a preposition, and denotation and connotation? If so, join Capel Manor College as an English Lecturer and embark on an exciting career spent passing on your knowledge to the next generation. We are looking for a passionate and committed individual to join our team to teach GCSE English to our students.

This will involve preparing and delivering stimulating lessons, setting goals that stretch and challenge all students, monitoring and assessing student progress, giving feedback and consistently demonstrating the positive attitudes, values and behaviours which are expected of students. Teaching English is a hugely rewarding career. It gives students a voice and can show them that words are powerful things; the things that can help them to succeed in life. Teaching English encourages creativity, it instils confidence, and it promotes curiosity. It is a fascinating subject to teach.

While applications from experienced English tutors are welcome, formal teaching experience is not necessary. We also look for individuals with a passion for English language and a desire to share this with others. If you think that you can develop intellectual curiosity and create a love of learning, we would like to hear from you. Full training and support will be provided to those without formal teaching experience. This includes a comprehensive induction programme, ongoing support from an experienced Lecturer and the College will cover the cost of studying towards a recognised teaching qualification.

This is a part-time role working 21.6 hours per week. The actual salary is £17,286- £19,134 for unqualified lecturers and £20,187.60 - £26,636.40 for qualified lecturers inclusive of London Weighting. Interview will take place on 4th June 2026. Proposed start date will be 20th August subject to completion of satisfactory pre-employment checks.
