Capel Manor College has an exciting opportunity for a Work-Based Assessor in Horticulture/Arboriculture to join its apprenticeship team. We are looking for an industry professional with experience in the arboriculture and/or horticultural industry to work with our apprentices and their employers.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for conducting interviews with prospective apprentices to determine their suitable training pathways and identify any organisational training needs.
  • You will plan, organise, and undertake regular visits to apprentices in their workplaces to review their progress, discuss their learning experiences, handle documentation, and address any concerns related to their education.
  • You will organise and visit workplaces to ensure that employers comply with course requirements and health and safety standards.
  • You will deliver classroom teaching for a Level 2 Work-Based Qualification, which will involve creating engaging activities, preparing lessons, providing feedback, and marking assessments.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for land-based learning, be enthusiastic to share this passion with others, and have the ability to inspire apprentices of all abilities.
  • They should be able to demonstrate flexibility in responding to employer requests and adapt to rapidly changing priorities to offer a responsive service.
  • Providing feedback to work-based apprentices and their employers from assessments and training plans will be a key part of your role, as will liaising with tutors to ensure that all aspects of the apprenticeship standards are being met for timely success.
