An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Horticulturist to join our team as a Practical Instructor, supporting and inspiring the next generation of horticultural professionals. This is a varied, hands-on role that combines horticultural practice, student instruction and the development of high-quality practical learning environments.
Working alongside teaching staff, you will support students across the College’s specialist Horticulture programmes, helping them develop the practical skills, confidence and professional standards they need to progress into employment or further study. A key part of the role will be providing practical instruction, demonstrations and guidance in a range of horticultural techniques, reinforcing safe working practices and current industry standards.
You will help prepare and resource practical sessions and assessments, ensuring that appropriate plant material, tools, machinery and equipment are available and maintained to a high standard. We are looking for someone with a broad range of practical horticultural skills who enjoys sharing their knowledge with others. You should be confident in the safe operation and maintenance of horticultural tools and machinery, with the ability to undertake routine maintenance and basic repairs.
You will need to be organised, proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while also being an effective member of the wider horticulture team. You will work collaboratively with Practical Instructor colleagues across the College’s other campuses to share expertise, resources and good practice and to support the effective day-to-day operation of our horticultural provision. Occasional travel to other campuses may be required.
The actual salary for this role is £22,920 - £25,543 inclusive of London Weighting.
