CapeClarke is working with a highly regarded City law firm that is looking to strengthen its established Construction & Engineering practice with the appointment of a Non-Contentious Construction Lawyer at Senior Associate / Legal Director level. This is a fantastic opportunity for a construction specialist looking to work on high-value, complex projects alongside an experienced and highly respected team, with genuine scope to develop their practice and take on significant client responsibility.
The team has a strong pipeline of work and is continuing to grow its non-contentious offering. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to advise a broad range of clients across major construction, development, infrastructure and engineering projects. Your work will include:
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on a broad range of construction and engineering contracts.
- Advising on JCT, NEC, FIDIC and bespoke forms of contract.
- Development agreements, forward funding arrangements and development finance transactions.
- Real estate-led construction and development projects.
- Major infrastructure, energy, industrial, remediation and process plant projects.
- Advising clients on procurement strategies, risk allocation and project delivery.
- Working alongside colleagues across Real Estate, Corporate, Finance, Projects and Regulatory on complex, multidisciplinary transactions.
You will have the opportunity to take ownership of significant matters, work directly with clients and play an important role in the continued development of the firm's construction practice.
The Construction & Engineering team forms part of the firm's wider Real Estate Group and has an excellent reputation across both contentious and non-contentious work. The team offers a collaborative and supportive environment, while providing lawyers with genuine responsibility, strong client exposure and the opportunity to work on some of the more complex projects in the market. There is also the opportunity to work closely with the firm's contentious construction specialists and wider transactional teams, providing a genuinely broad platform for development.
We are interested in speaking with lawyers who have:
- 5+ years' PQE and a strong background in non-contentious construction.
- Experience gained within a leading law firm, in-house environment or a combination of both.
- Strong drafting and negotiation experience across JCT, NEC, FIDIC and/or bespoke construction contracts.
- Experience advising on development, infrastructure and/or major construction projects.
- A strong understanding of procurement, project delivery and construction risk allocation.
- The ability to run matters independently while working effectively within wider project teams.
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience supervising and developing junior lawyers.
- An interest in business development and contributing to the continued growth of a successful practice.
