Overview
In-house opportunity with Vital Energi’s Blackburn team to support a growing contractor-focused business. You will work as part of a small legal team, primarily handling construction contracts and related commercial matters to enable tendering and project delivery. The role combines non-contentious contract work with potential dispute support, aligned with a five-year growth strategy. You’ll influence contracting standards, provide guidance to the business, and help scale legal support as the company expands.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and amending construction contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC) for tender and procurement
- Reviewing and drafting general construction and commercial agreements (sub-contracts, PO, MOUs, NDAs, JV agreements, licenses, data processing agreements)
- Assisting with day-to-day contract/project administration and drafting correspondence and notices
- Producing legal templates and guidance for the business
- Advising on dispute resolution processes and assisting with adjudications and court procedures
- Providing training and summarising legal advice for non-legal stakeholders
- Staying updated on relevant case law and legislation; conducting legal research and know-how functions
Key requirements
- 1-3 years PQE
- construction experience preferred
- ability to review, draft and advise on standard form contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC)
- experience with a range of commercial agreements (NDAs, MOUs, JV agreements, leases, IP licenses)
- ability to support day-to-day contract/project administration and dispute resolution
- Contract drafting and review (NEC, JCT, FIDIC)
- General commercial and construction law
- Dispute resolution support (adjudications, court proceedings)
- Drafting notices and correspondence
- Legal research and knowledge updating
