Job Description

Motor Crime Defence & Regulatory Solicitor – Manchester – £50k

\\nOur client a Leading international firm is keen to recruit a qualified solicitor with experience in defending motor crime inquests and regualtory matters. This role is based in its mordern City Centre office in Manchester.
\\n
\\nThe team predominately deal with motor crime, nursing/care sector and health & safety (insurer and private client), cases.
\\n
\\nThis is a technical and client-facing role for a well-rounded lawyer, so you will have a keen interest in building client relationships through the delivery of training and mentoring as well as in delivering first class legal solutions to complex problems.
\\n
\\nKey Accountabilities
\\n
\\n• Review and analysis of prosecution evidence and considering implications for lay client/company
\\n• Drafting statements of insured/witnesses
\\n• Review of client’s evidence – obtaining, collating, indexing, cross-referencing with own statements and Prosecution's statements, summarising evidence for lead file handlers
\\n• Liaising with Court, Coroner's Office and CQC/Police/HSE or relevant regulator
\\n• Liaising with experts – instructing own experts, summarising expert evidence, serving reports
\\n• Serving Defence case statements, sentencing bundles and mitigation bundles
\\n• Drafting written submissions, following liaison with lay client/corporate client
\\n• Liaising with clients re Prosecution's case and disclosure required
\\n• Reviewing transcripts of evidence
\\n• Organising and attending conferences & meetings, drafting note of discussion and following agreed strategy following lead lawyer’s strategy
\\n• Attendance / representation at interview under cautions
\\n• Attendance behind Counsel for trials & inquests – drafting notes of evidence, outcome and sentencing
\\n• Arranges meetings, conferences, site visits, expert appointments
\\n• Collating evidence and preparing bundles
\\n• Review of medical records, post mortem reports and CCTV footage
\\n• Attending site, taking photos and drafting basic statements
\\n• Research into relevant HSE guidelines
\\n• Research into clients – corporate structure, their procedures, risk assessments, documents
\\n• To ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct
\\n• Preparing written reports and advices for clients
\\n
