Job Responsibilities

1. Schedule surgical appointments for the practice.
2. Obtain reports of lab work, X-ray, EKG reports from primary care doctors, cardiologists, etc., and fax to appropriate facilities.
3. Obtain surgical authorizations in accordance with insurance company guidelines to ensure proper financial clearance.
4. Communicate with referring providers regarding scheduling and completion of surgeries.
5. Check-in and check-out patients, verify and obtain insurance and demographic information, collect co-payments, and schedule follow-up appointments.
6. Answer the phone promptly, politely, and professionally; direct calls appropriately and take accurate messages within the electronic medical record.
7. Adjust to unexpected changes to ensure all responsibilities are met during absences or increased patient volumes.
8. Maintain harmonious relations with staff, patients, and guests.
9. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
10. Float to front desk coverage when needed and to other MACC practices as required.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a medical office setting, including scheduling, for at least one year, or a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with medical office technology (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.).
• Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
• Typing skills at 30 WPM (preferred).
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Position Details

20 hours per week, 8 am – 4 pm, no weekends or holidays.
