Principal Associate / Serious Injury Team Leader

West Midlands | Up to £70,000 | Hybrid Working

I'm working exclusively with a highly regarded West Midlands law firm on an opportunity for an experienced Serious Injury lawyer to take a leading role within an established claimant Personal Injury team.

This is more than simply a fee-earning position. The firm is looking for someone who can combine their own Serious Injury caseload with technical leadership of a small, experienced team, with a genuine mandate to help shape, develop and grow this area of the practice.

The Opportunity

Initially, you will take responsibility for a team of two experienced and largely self-sufficient fee earners alongside managing your own Serious Injury caseload. The team predominantly handles RTA claims involving significant injuries, with work generated through established relationships with major trauma centres.

The caseload primarily sits below £100,000 in value, although matters can and do develop beyond this level. The longer-term opportunity is where this role becomes particularly interesting.

The firm wants the successful individual to help develop the team further, looking at how cases are managed, improving processes and efficiencies and creating a more proactive approach to the progression of claims.

There is then scope to grow the team through the recruitment and development of more junior lawyers, giving the successful individual the opportunity to build out their own team over time.

The Ideal Candidate

You are likely to be an experienced claimant Personal Injury lawyer with a strong background in Serious Injury and multi-track claims.

Previous supervision or management experience would be advantageous, but the firm is equally interested in speaking with experienced Senior Associates who are ready to take their first formal step into team leadership.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong claimant Serious Injury / multi-track Personal Injury experience
  • The technical ability to support and supervise other fee earners
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior colleagues
  • A proactive approach to case management and team performance
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • An interest in improving processes and developing a team
  • Excellent client-care and relationship-building skills

The position can be appointed at Principal Associate level, with flexibility around the exact title for the right individual.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary up to £70,000 depending on experience
  • Principal Associate level opportunity
  • Genuine technical and team leadership responsibility
  • Opportunity to shape and grow your own team
  • Reduced fee-earning responsibilities alongside the leadership element as the role develops
  • High-quality work generated through established major trauma relationships
  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • Strong benefits package and long-term progression
