CapeClarke Legal Recruitment is working with a well-regarded law firm to recruit an Associate or Senior Associate into its growing Defendant Personal Injury team in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Defendant EL/PL Solicitor to join a highly regarded team handling complex and sensitive public liability and employers’ liability claims on behalf of insurers, public sector bodies and large self‑insured organisations. The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of complex defendant matters, with a particular focus on public liability and employers’ liability work. The caseload is likely to include:
- Public liability claims
- Employers’ liability claims
- Abuse claims
- Human rights matters
- Data protection issues
- Equality Act claims
- Duty of care disputes

About You
Applications are invited from qualified Solicitors with 3+ years’ PQE and solid experience in Defendant Personal Injury litigation. Candidates with strong public liability and/or EL/PL experience will be of particular interest. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong experience handling defendant PI claims (preferably EL/PL claims)
- The ability to manage a complex caseload with minimal supervision
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work well as part of a team
