Catastrophic Injury Associate / Senior Associate - Defendant
Manchester | Hybrid - one or two office days a week | £60,000-£80,000
If you enjoy the substance of catastrophic injury litigation but want greater influence over how cases are run, this Manchester role offers both substantial work and responsibility within the team.
I'm recruiting for an established national defendant insurance practice. The appointment combines conduct of complex motor and EL/PL claims with involvement in the team's most substantial catastrophic injury litigation. You will advise insurer and corporate clients, contribute to case strategy and help junior lawyers develop their judgement.
The work involves life-changing injuries and difficult questions of liability, causation and quantum. You will assess medical and expert evidence, advise on the financial exposure and work with counsel and clients to identify the right route to resolution. On larger matters, you will work alongside senior colleagues while retaining a meaningful role in the decisions.
I'm interested in solicitors with around four or more years' PQE and relevant serious or catastrophic injury experience. You should be comfortable taking ownership of substantial litigation and explaining your recommendations clearly to sophisticated clients. Experience supporting less experienced fee earners will also be useful.
The attraction is a mix of technical challenge, client contact and a broader contribution to the team, with one or two office days a week. The £60,000-£80,000 range will reflect your experience and the level of responsibility you can take on.
