I’m working with a leading national law firm on an opportunity for an experienced Court of Protection lawyer to join its growing Birmingham practice at Associate or Senior Associate level. The firm has invested significantly in Birmingham over recent years, including the continued growth of its Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence teams, and is now looking to further strengthen its specialist Court of Protection offering.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with established property and financial affairs experience to join a highly regarded practice, handling complex deputyship and personal injury trust matters with a strong crossover into serious injury and clinical negligence work.
The Opportunity
You will manage a varied caseload of property and financial affairs matters, with a particular focus on deputyships and personal injury trusts for brain-injured and vulnerable clients. The work includes substantial settled cases as well as matters where the underlying Personal Injury or Clinical Negligence claim remains ongoing, working closely with colleagues across those teams. You will advise clients and their families alongside case managers and other professionals, deal with Court of Protection applications and annual Deputy Reports, and work alongside senior members of the team on more complex matters.
For someone already established within Court of Protection, the opportunity offers a strong combination of specialist work, a leading national platform and the chance to join a Birmingham office that continues to grow.
The Ideal Candidate
- A qualified Solicitor with 6+ years’ PQE and experience gained within an established Court of Protection practice.
- Strong property and financial affairs experience.
- Experience managing deputyship matters.
- Experience advising on Personal Injury Trusts.
- Experience making applications to the Court of Protection.
- Exposure to clients who have suffered serious or catastrophic injuries.
- Strong client-care and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to manage a varied caseload and competing priorities.
- A collaborative approach to working with other specialist teams.
The position can be appointed at Associate or Senior Associate level depending on experience.
