Role Overview
You will play a pivotal role in helping shape our clients’ technology programmes, from designing innovative digital products and services to enterprise‑grade platforms leveraging emerging technology. You will lead solution design in pursuit of business vision, working hands‑on with engineering teams to translate strategy into reality. You'll also influence broader technology direction through advising on architectural strategy, pattern and standard definition, and promoting effective governance. You’ll create customer‑centric solutions while guiding small, impactful teams through complex technical challenges in agile delivery. Finally, you will also contribute to our Technology and Engineering Practice by mentoring junior architects, fostering knowledge sharing across our technical community, and driving commercial value at Capco through delivery excellence and active participation in business development initiatives. This role will sit in our Scotland office, with a need to potentially work in either Edinburgh or Glasgow depending on client expectations.
Required Experience
- Designing scalable, resilient solution architectures that align with enterprise strategies and business outcomes.
- Deploying modern architecture patterns including microservices, APIs, events, sagas, containerisation, and serverless.
- Experience within at least one core Financial Services domain: Capital Markets, Retail Banking, Payments, Insurance or Wealth & Asset Management.
- Translating business requirements into clear, implementable technical designs through personal leadership and working closely with engineering teams.
- Building trusted relationships with senior leadership and influencing key decisions.
- Operating within agile delivery models and modern delivery practices (e.g. SAFe and DevOps).
- Applying recognised architecture frameworks, methods, or techniques (e.g. TOGAF, Domain-Driven Design, or NIST) in a pragmatic way.
While not mandatory, experience in the following areas is beneficial:
- Consulting or client-facing delivery experience in complex environments.
- Designing greenfield or cloud-first solutions within enterprise-scale organisations.
- Contributing to the development or maturation of architecture practices or communities.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies, including AI solutions.
