Personal Assistant - Kippford

Full-Time On-site
C

I am a gentleman in my late 60s seeking a kind, friendly, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support me in my day-to-day life and spend enjoyable time with me.

I live with Parkinson’s dementia and use a walking aid and wheelchair to help me move around safely. I enjoy listening to music and reading, and I value calm, unhurried support that allows me to communicate, respond and make choices at my own pace.

I live with my wife, who is my main carer. As part of this role, there may be times when you will support her by providing assistance or offering her some well-deserved respite. I am looking for someone who is understanding, respectful and committed to helping me maintain my independence, dignity and quality of life.

What I need

I would like support with:

  • Personal care, provided in a respectful and dignified way
  • Preparing meals
  • Eating and drinking, including support with utensils
  • Light household tasks
  • Taking medication as agreed in my support plan
  • Moving around safely and getting out and about
  • Companionship and meaningful social interaction

Living with Parkinson’s dementia can sometimes affect my judgement or behaviour, and I may occasionally say or do things that are out of character or socially inappropriate. I benefit from gentle, respectful support from someone who understands my condition and helps me preserve my dignity, privacy and appropriate boundaries.

About you

I would love to hear from someone who is:

  • Friendly, patient and understanding
  • Trustworthy, reliable and dependable
  • Supports me to make my own choices and gives me time to respond
  • Enjoys using humour and developing a positive, supportive relationship with me
  • Respects my privacy, dignity and confidentiality
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries
  • Has experience of providing care or support
  • Non-smoker preferred

Thursday: 2 hrs 11.15am to 1.15pm respite support

An additional 3 hours of respite support, with days to be agreed

There is flexibility within the role, as respite hours may occasionally be accumulated and taken as a single 8-hour shift.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability to work every second weekend may be required (hours may be shared with another Personal Assistant)
  • Willingness to provide holiday and sickness cover when needed
  • PVG membership is required
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK
