Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional support needs? We are looking for caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated individuals to join our team as Classroom Care Assistants at Stanmore School, Lanark.

About the Role

As a Classroom Care Assistant/Practitioner, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and independence. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you will:

  • Assist in preparing, supporting, and tidying the classroom.
  • Provide one-to-one and group care, ensuring every child can access learning and daily activities.
  • Support children with personal care, feeding, and mobility needs.
  • Administer medication safely in line with care plans.
  • Accompany and escort pupils throughout the school day, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing.
  • Encourage communication and interaction using assistive technologies and communication aids.
  • Help manage behaviours that may challenge, always with dignity and respect.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers, and health professionals.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants who are:

  • Compassionate, patient, and motivated by helping others achieve their potential.
  • Able to provide physical, emotional, and social support to children with complex needs.
  • Confident working as part of a team but also able to use initiative.
  • Willing to undertake training in moving and handling, first aid, and administering medication.

What you need to know

Hours: 33.25 hours per week (term time) - Monday 8.45am - 4.30pm Tuesday and Wednesday 8.45am - 4.00pm Thursday and Friday 8.45am - 3.30pm.
