The Studio

This award-winning architecture and interior design studio is known for creating thoughtful, characterful spaces across residential, hospitality and community projects. Its work brings together architecture and interiors, with a strong focus on materiality, craftsmanship and timeless design.

Projects range from high-end private homes and listed properties to new-build schemes and sensitive refurbishments within conservation areas. Every project is approached individually, with no fixed house style – instead, the studio takes a refined and collaborative approach that balances creativity with practical, technical and budgetary considerations.

The close-knit team fosters a calm, design-led studio culture, making this an excellent environment for architects who value detail, materiality and considered design.

The Opportunity

The studio is looking for a Project Architect to join its London team, taking a leading role in the design and delivery of projects across the practice.

You will work across all RIBA stages, providing architectural design direction while taking responsibility for the successful delivery of the project brief, scope, budget and programme. Depending on the project, you may act as Project Lead or Design Lead and serve as the principal point of contact for clients, consultants, project managers, contractors, fabricators and specialist suppliers.

The role will involve developing projects from feasibility and strategic definition through concept design, planning and statutory approvals, detailed design, tender and construction. You will coordinate technical and construction drawing packages, review construction information, submittals, mock-ups and samples, and maintain oversight of design quality through regular site visits and project close-out.

Working closely with the studio's Interiors and FF&E teams, you will ensure the architectural and interior design intent is considered holistically throughout the project. You will lead and participate in client presentations, consultant coordination, project workshops and site meetings, resolving design and technical issues while ensuring information is clearly communicated across the wider project team.

Beyond individual projects, you will contribute to the wider development of the studio, including design standards, new business pitches and client relationships, while providing leadership and mentorship to Part II assistants and junior members of the architectural team.

The Candidate

  • ARB-registered Architect with at least 3 years' post-registration experience
  • Strong experience leading and delivering architectural projects from concept through to completion
  • Confidence working across all RIBA stages
  • Strong architectural design ability with an excellent understanding of technical and spatial detail
  • Experience developing and coordinating planning, Building Regulations, tender and construction packages
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, the UK planning system and Building Regulations
  • Experience coordinating architectural information with consultants, contractors and specialist teams
  • Strong project management skills, including responsibility for programmes, budgets and project deliverables
  • Confidence taking a client-facing role and presenting and communicating design solutions
  • Experience managing project teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the design judgement to anticipate and resolve architectural and technical challenges
  • Experience monitoring construction progress and maintaining design quality on site
  • An understanding of sustainable design principles, materials and construction techniques
  • Strong communication, relationship management and organisational skills
  • The ability and willingness to mentor Part II assistants and junior architectural staff
  • An interest in contributing to studio development and new business opportunities
  • Proficiency in Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modelling software and Microsoft 365
