Where and how you can work: Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia but we engage our Contractors all over the world to help us meet our crazy big goals. As a Contractor at Canva, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United Kingdom, meaning you have ultimate flexibility. Please note, this is a 6-month contract with full-time hours.
What you’d be doing in this role: As a Senior Designer / Motion Designer, you’ll collaborate closely with an Art Director and Creative Director to elevate Canva’s visual presence across Europe. Partnering with a talented team, including copywriters, freelancers, and agencies, you’ll ideate, design, and execute projects that elevate our brand — primarily working across Performance Marketing to create scroll-stopping performance ads from statics to UGC style and full production videos that build Canva’s brand and performance across Europe. Design expertise is essential to the role and a background or experience in motion design is a huge plus – we want to make work that moves (people)! We’re looking for someone who can bring concepts to life with creativity and attention to detail. This role is perfect for a versatile individual with the ability to tell powerful stories through their work.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Driving the visual direction for performance campaigns, keeping every project fresh, engaging, and innovative.
- Designing, storyboarding, and animating ads and hype reels that bring Canva to life across social.
- Confidently pitch concepts and present work to senior creative leaders, product marketing managers, and stakeholders, clearly articulating the creative vision and strategic approach.
- Animating with the same creativity and clarity you bring to your designs.
- Passionate about exceptional art direction and design that’s not just beautiful but also thoughtful, meaningful, and provocative when needed.
- Collaborating with external vendors, providing clear art direction guidance and feedback to help elevate their work.
- Working closely with the Creative Director to ensure schedules are accurate and deadlines are met.
You’re probably a match if:
- You have proven extensive experience in design, advertising, and branding.
- Strong design and motion design skills, with experience driving projects from start to finish.
- An understanding of digital and product design to ensure your vision is fully realized.
- Familiarity with Canva and Affinity.
- Native-level English skills. Additional languages (French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, German) are a plus.
This is a remote role with flexible hours, but you’ll need to accommodate occasional global team meetings in the evening (6-9 PM).
