About The Role
We introduced the Regional Content Strategy Lead role to drive the success of content in key focus regions. Content moves Canva, and ensuring our content is a driver of growth is crucial. Just as we invest in strong business, marketing, sales, and product leaders in our priority markets, we need an equally strong voice in content.
As a Regional Content Strategy Lead, you’ll be responsible for ensuring Canva has the right strategic content from your region, owning content as a growth engine and adapting strategy by market maturity to support MAU, retention, and revenue impact.
You’ll champion local relevance and trends that make international users feel Canva is for them, and work closely with country teams (SEO, Localisation, Creators, Product, Marketing), central Content & Discovery (C&D), and regional stakeholders to ensure local content delivers high value and measurable impact.
What you’ll do
- Content Strategy & Execution – Define and prioritise regional content strategy and growth levers, overseeing content health and production to drive relevance, scale, and business impact.
- Content Quality & Relevance – Act as a custodian of content quality, ensuring local content meets Canva’s standards, resonates culturally, and supports strategic growth metrics.
- Discovery & Performance – Own regional content performance across discovery, ensuring the right local content is surfaced through search, recommendations, and editorial, and optimised for engagement, activation, and retention.
- Editorial & Trends Leadership – Lead regional editorial strategy across surfaces (e.g. Showcases), identifying and activating cultural moments in partnership with Marketing, Social and PR.
- Product & SEO/LOX – Partner closely with Product, SEO, and Logged-Out teams to shape and execute a cohesive regional content strategy that unlocks demand, closes content gaps, and improves conversion.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Act as a strategic partner to country teams, central C&D, and in‑market functions to align priorities, unblock execution, and drive content‑led growth.
- Regional Expansion & Team Growth – Build, enable, and scale local content teams, empowering Country Managers with clarity, frameworks, and strategic support.
- Creator & Partner Engagement – Build relationships with local creators, manage partnerships, and activate the creator community to expand our content ecosystem.
- Feedback & Insights – Gather input from sales, partners, and local teams to refine content strategies and enhance Canva’s market impact.
- Budget Ownership – Manage and deploy the regional content budget, aligning with global priorities while tailoring investments to regional needs.
What We’re Looking For
- 5-7+ years of experience in content strategy, regional business strategy and operations, partnerships, or editorial leadership, or similar roles within high‑growth content, media or marketplace global technology companies.
- A deep understanding of content, trends, and aesthetics in your region, with a pulse on what resonates with local users.
- A proactive, solutions‑driven approach, capable of balancing strategy with hands‑on execution.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align cross‑functional teams across regions.
- Experience working in fast‑moving, dynamic environments, comfortable with ambiguity and change.
- Strong analytical skills to assess content performance and inform strategy adjustments.
- A track record of successfully managing content budgets, partnerships, and production workflows.
- Passion for supporting and activating local creators, fostering a thriving content ecosystem.
- Language skills and cultural knowledge relevant to your geographic markets and regions, with ability to work effectively across different time zones.
