What you’d be doing in this role:
- Lead & Grow the Europe Data Science Team: Coach, and develop a high-performing team of Data Scientists and Analytics Engineers across International Supergroup. Create clarity of scope, strong prioritisation, and a culture of high standards, ownership, and impact. Ensure individuals are growing while delivering meaningful business outcomes.
- Define the Europe Data Strategy: Partner with regional leadership to define how we measure and grow Europe. Set the long-term analytics roadmap - identifying structural growth levers, investment priorities, and capability gaps across markets.
- Drive Strategic Decision-Making: Act as the senior data partner to International Marketing, Country Managers, and regional leadership. Ensure decisions are grounded in robust analysis, clear trade-offs, and a strong understanding of local market nuance.
- Connect International to Global Product & Data: Represent International market needs within global product and data forums. Ensure local insights meaningfully influence roadmap prioritisation while maintaining alignment with global standards.
- Build Scalable Operating Models: Establish clear ways of working between Data Science, Marketing, Product, and regional teams. Define how experimentation, reporting, forecasting, and strategic analytics operate at scale across Europe.
- Raise the Craft & Talent Bar: Set expectations for analytical quality, experimentation rigor, and storytelling. Review work, mentor senior ICs, and create an environment where best practices are shared and scaled.
- Own Outcomes, Not Just Output: Be accountable for regional impact - growth, retention, monetisation, marketing efficiency - through strong prioritisation and focus on the highest-leverage work.
You're probably a match if:
- You have several years of experience in data, product, or growth analytics, including experience leading or managing high-performing teams.
- You’ve successfully built and developed Data Scientists, providing clear feedback, career guidance, and performance management.
- You think at a systems level - connecting product, marketing, lifecycle, and market strategy into coherent growth narratives.
- You’ve partnered with senior stakeholders and influenced strategic decisions at leadership level.
- You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and aligning competing regional priorities.
- You balance strategic thinking with pragmatic execution.
- You know when to go deep technically - and when to coach others to do so.
- You set high standards for experimentation design, measurement frameworks, and data storytelling.
- You’re highly proficient in modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Mode, experimentation platforms) and strong in SQL/Python, with enough technical depth to guide and challenge your team - and you stay at the forefront of AI, proactively applying emerging tools and techniques to elevate both your own work and your team’s capabilities.
- You care deeply about building inclusive, high-trust team environments.

We’re a distributed team of Data Scientists based across Europe and around the world who exist to deliver a high-quality understanding of our markets, products, and users. We turn data into clarity so Canva can make the right decisions at the right time. The team is smart, fun, and excited to solve the most complex questions our International team throws at us.
