This hybrid working role is based in London within the EMEA and APAC Tax team. The role requires a detailed working understanding of accounting, current and deferred tax and applicable GAAP principles. Key Responsibilities

  • Covering UK, EMEA and APAC, in respect of all group corporate tax compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Management of the outsourced UK, EMEA and APAC corporation tax returns submission process, and being responsible for the review of these tax returns.
  • Responsibility for monitoring Effective Tax Rates and reporting to the US Tax team on these, including proof of tax and deferred tax substantiations, as part of the quarterly tax provision process.
  • Management of external provider regarding statutory accounts tax disclosures/notes for the UK group.
  • Occasional preparation of tax disclosures for UK statutory accounts in the Cantor Fitzgerald group.
  • Management of the outsourced UK Capital Allowance and R&D Tax Credit claims process.
  • Reviewing monthly reconciliations of current and deferred tax balances.
  • Opportunity to be involved with assessing tax impacts of reorganisations, acquisitions, disposals, and compliance for a highly complex and acquisitive group, consisting of partnerships and companies.
  • Liaising with HMRC, external auditors, external advisors, CFOs, and all levels of management in the UK and overseas, requiring strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Responsible for the UK GPA, group deductions allowance and any related filings.
  • Responsibility for team processes, controls and monitoring and input into the UK Senior Accounting Officer and CCO certification.
  • Managing the UK corporate tax payments process including review of calculations.
  • Management of group Pillar 2 reporting requirement obligations, working with UK, EMEA and APAC financial controllers.
  • Reporting related to withholding taxes and handling the process in respect of associated reclaims.
  • Managing shared services centre resource based in India.
  • Other ad hoc projects as required.

Personal attributes:

  • Communication skills – excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem solving - proven ability to take complex business requirements and translate these into tangible, workable and commercially smart solutions leveraging best practice tools and techniques.
  • Essential qualities of the candidate would be tax reporting experience, the experience of dealing with auditors which requires tact, diplomacy and discretion, ability to work around problems quickly, advanced Excel skills.
  • ACA, ACCA, CTA or ATT qualified.
  • Financial services (banking, other brokerages, private equity) experience is an advantage.
  • An extremely organised individual due to the complexity of the group structure.
  • Analytical - ability to understand and respond to complex problems, draw and present the right insight and recommendations effectively.
  • Adaptable - Proven ability to thrive in a complex matrix environment, collaborate effectively with broader teams and galvanise support for projects, bringing people together to deliver.
  • High levels of self-awareness and committed to personal development with a growth mind-set.
  • Thoughtful and demonstrates good judgment and strong decision-making skills.
  • US GAAP knowledge beneficial, but not essential.
