Security is an integral part of the larger Estates and Facilities Department. They are responsible for supporting and delivering all aspects of security-related services throughout Canterbury and the wider Campus Network. The Security team aims to offer and deliver a flexible, value added, professional service to meet the needs of students, staff and guests.
Security Officer – Day Shift
The successful candidate will have experience in security or a related customer service-based area and will understand that students, staff and guests are at the forefront of all that we do. Experience in the use of and monitoring of access control/CCTV systems/fire alarm systems would also be an advantage, as would a current SIA DS licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support security services across the campus network.
- Operate and monitor access control, CCTV and fire alarm systems.
- Respond efficiently and coherently to incidents and situations.
- Maintain a clean, safe and secure environment for all students, staff and guests.
- Drive to all security sites and hold a clean manual driving licence.
Qualifications
- Experience in security or customer service based area.
- Current SIA DS licence.
- Strong customer focused skills and effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to deal with difficult and occasional stressful circumstances.
- Motivated, target driven and keen to learn and develop new or existing professional skills.
How will you work?
A shift pattern of 4 days on / 4 days off is worked within this post. Start and finish times may vary to maintain the overall flexibility required of the University security staff.
Days 06:00hrs to 18:00hrs on a four on four off shift pattern (44 hours per shift).
