An excellent opportunity to join our dynamic and fast paced Corporate Governance team. To be successful in this role you will be flexible, work well under pressure, and be comfortable working in a busy and confidential environment.

The Opportunity

As a Governance Officer you will play a crucial role in the provision of a high‑quality company secretarial function for the University. You will be responsible for taking board‑level minutes for both the Governing Body and the Senior Management Team, arranging training for Governors, promoting best governance practice and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Take board‑level minutes for the Governing Body and Senior Management Team, meeting deadlines and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Coordinate and arrange training for Governors and promote good governance practice.
  • Provide support for c‑suite level meetings and board functions.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal relationships to promote good governance across the University.

Qualifications

  • Honours degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Previous experience providing board or c‑suite level support.
  • Company secretarial qualification is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

How will you work?

Work will primarily be at the Canterbury Campus with occasional attendance at the Medway Campus. In‑person attendance is required for fortnightly senior management team meetings and quarterly governing body meetings. The role is flexible with a relatively even balance between on‑campus and off‑campus time, aligned to the needs of the Governing Body and the Senior Management Team.
