Are you passionate about maintaining high standards of cleanliness and supporting a busy kitchen team? Canterbury Cathedral is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team.
About the role: As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the kitchen environment and equipment are kept to the highest hygienic standards. You will support the chefs and kitchen porter with cleaning, organisation, and general kitchen duties, helping to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and polish crockery, cutlery, glassware, and kitchen utensils promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, surfaces, ovens, fridges, and equipment.
- Assist chefs with storing deliveries and checking against delivery notes.
- Support the team with additional duties as required.
- Follow hygiene, fire, and health & safety procedures.
- Report any health and safety concerns or equipment defects to your manager.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills & Attributes:
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Organised and flexible with working hours, including weekends.
- Physically fit to carry out duties involving heavy lifting and bending.
- Understanding and sympathy with the Cathedral's mission and ministry.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Food Hygiene Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
