Transport Planner
Cantello Tayler Recruitment are recruiting for a Transport Planner to join their client who is based in Sunbury. You will oversee compliant, efficient and cost effective transport operations across depots and delivery networks, ensuring hygiene, quality and performance standards are consistently achieved while actively promoting safe working practices.
This is a fully office based role, working Monday-Friday, 10.00am – 7.00pm.

Transport Planner duties include:
- Ensure all internal and external customer requirements are met on a daily basis
- Plan and optimise vehicle routes for daily collections and deliveries
- Act as the main point of contact for customers
- Continually review and re‑engineer operations to maximise efficiency
- Coordinate own fleet and subcontractors to deliver cost effective transport solutions
- Manage drivers on a day‑to‑day basis, including daily debriefs
- Develop and train the team to meet operational requirements and drive efficiency improvements
- Maintain a motivated, engaged and high performing team
- Support the management of suppliers, including subcontractors, agencies, R&M service agents and fuel providers, ensuring cost control
- Provide out of hours support for customers and drivers when required
- Offer flexibility to cover shifts, including holidays, absences and weekend cover
- Support regular driver, vehicle and trailer checks to maintain high standards of reliability, presentation and fleet control
- Assist with the management of in cab technology systems
- Support the delivery and management of driver training programmes, including Driver CPC
- Ensure full compliance with all internal processes, procedures and Pallet Network requirements
- Provide flexibility to rotate and cover shifts as required
- Cover all aspects of fleet management and Health & Safety compliance
Transport Planner required skills, knowledge, and experience:
- O-Licence experience.
- General IT knowledge to include Excel, Word etc.
- Excellent self‑motivation and able to work under own supervision.
- Team player with the ability to instil confidence and drive in others.
- The ability to co‑ordinate a variety of tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with management, drivers, and suppliers.
- Flexibility – the ability to adapt and cope with the unexpected.
- Working Time Directive experience and associated systems.
