Position Overview
Provide the clinical support necessary for implementation of psychotherapeutic and educational service to ensure quality care through the establishment of a comprehensive therapeutic relationship with individuals served through the CARES Center and Day School Program. Quality services and documentation will be facilitated through families/guardians and youth around the therapist’s provision of individual, family and group psychotherapy. The therapist will ensure these services are of the highest quality by integrating evidence-based treatment planning, child and family teams, clinical assessment, and collaborative documentation.
Required Physical & Environmental Requirements
Required Physical Activities: sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting, talking, seeing, hearing, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching overhead, and climbing stairs as needed and repetitive motions. Must have the physical ability to assist in the physical or therapeutic hold of youth when required, following organisation approved safety protocols. Characteristics of Work: frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and physically assist or support youth and/or staff. Vision Requirements: Close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Environmental Conditions: This job requires exposure to both inside and outside weather conditions; the typical noise level for the work environment is moderate to loud noise.
Job Responsibilities
Therapeutic Relationship
- Meet new admissions within 24 hours of admission.
- Ensure all intake screeners and assessments are completed.
- Conduct a minimum of one hour of individual therapy each week.
- Conduct a minimum of two, 60-minute family sessions per month.
- Conduct a minimum of three 60-minute group therapy sessions per week.
- Act as a liaison between Child Protection Services, the court system, families, and the treatment team.
- Ensure the establishment of an aftercare program with each individual served and family/guardian.
- Attend weekly clinical staffing regarding individuals served.
- Attend scheduled child and family team meetings for each individual served.
- Attend clinical meetings as directed by the Clinical Director and Program Director.
Administrative Support
- Complete required admission documentation within specified guidelines.
- Complete Individual Comprehensive Treatment Plan within fourteen days of admission.
- Complete Treatment Plan Reviews monthly.
- Documentation of all therapeutic sessions must be completed within organisation specified timelines.
- Attend all meetings as scheduled by the supervisory team.
- Assume Clinical On-Call responsibilities as scheduled.
- Design, implement and facilitate behaviour modification plans as needed.
- Attend clinical community meetings.
Professional Standards
- Maintain professional licensure and present proof of licensure renewal.
- Maintain Clinical Privileges by adhering to the Program’s Privileging Process.
- Participate in staff training and education programs as needed.
- Receive regular supervision from the Director of Clinical Services.
- Adhere to standards of care prescribed by Canopy, Mississippi Department of Medicaid, and Mississippi Department of Health.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher, and an LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or PhD (with licensure) is required.
- Two (2) years’ experience in the care of youth with behavioural health issues is required.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English, and to communicate in a therapeutic and professional manner.
- Must be able to document in an electronic health record system in a professional manner.
