Chief Engineer at Canopy by Hilton London City
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chief Engineer to join the team at Canopy by Hilton London City.
Reporting to the Hotel Manager, you will be fully responsible for the overall Engineering and Maintenance including H&S and Fire Safety of the hotel.
About the role
- Reporting to the Hotel Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, including energy conservation and all H&S compliance
- Obtain a comprehensive and adequate handover after project completion and before opening
- Manage and control pre-opening maintenance budget and recruitment
- Develop and implement departmental policies, health & safety, SOPs and other training programmes ensuring they are in line with UKs regulations and Hilton's standards
- Prepare and be responsible for the departmental budget, ensuring that costs and inventory are controlled, that productivity and performance levels are attained
- Lead the engineering team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules
- Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of guests and team members, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property
- Coordinate and monitor contractors and suppliers to ensure that services and goods delivered according to the hotels policies
- Operate in compliance with all local laws and government regulations
- Develop, implement and manage energy conservation programs for the property
- Ensure that members of the department are all fully qualified to perform aspects for their jobs for which they are responsible
- Establish and deliver an effective planned preventative maintenance programme
- You must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role, documented evidence of eligibility will be required as part of the recruitment process
About the candidate
A qualified Chief Engineer with hotel opening experience in the upscale market and 5 years' experience in a similar role. Minimum NVQ level 3, NEBOSH formal H&S qualification is a must.
Mechanical or Electrical background is essential, as well as strong knowledge of plumbing and temperature controls.
You will be a dynamic team player with a flexible approach and have experience in managing a team to successfully achieve the hotels goals.
You must have outstanding planning skills along with sound technical knowledge on air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical and mechanical aspects.
We want you to be able to manage multiple projects at once with a close attention to detail.
You will enjoy solving problems swiftly with creative and solutions, offering advice and recommendations.
You must have excellent leadership and communication skills and be committed to deliver great customer service.
