The IT Governance and Quality Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the IT governance, controls, audit, and assurance activities within Technology. Reporting into the Head of IT Governance, the role ensures that IT governance frameworks, control environments, and quality assurance practices are effectively implemented, embedded, and continuously improved.

The role provides operational leadership across IT governance and assurance activities and manages a team comprising IT Governance Analysts and a Governance and Controls Lead. It plays a critical role in supporting regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and the delivery of well-controlled, high-quality IT services.

  • IT Governance & Controls
    • Manage the implementation and ongoing operation of IT governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures.
    • Ensure IT controls are clearly defined, documented, communicated, and operating effectively.
    • Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of IT risks in line with organisational risk management practices.
    • Maintain governance artefacts, control libraries, and supporting documentation.
    • Oversee the operation of governance processes across IT, including change, risk, and service management controls.
    • Support control attestation, evidence collection, and management system activities.
  • Audit & Assurance
    • Manage the IT audit and assurance activities on behalf of Technology.
    • Act as a key operational point of contact for internal audit, external audit, and assurance reviews.
    • Coordinate audit planning, evidence gathering, walkthroughs, and responses.
    • Track audit actions and ensure timely remediation of findings and control weaknesses.
    • Provide clear reporting on audit status, themes, and outcomes to the Head of IT Governance and senior stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance & Control Effectiveness
    • Support the operation and continuous improvement of quality and assurance practices across IT delivery.
    • Ensure governance and control requirements are embedded into IT processes and delivery lifecycles.
    • Monitor control performance, quality metrics, and assurance outcomes.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen control effectiveness and reduce operational and delivery risk.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
    • Work closely with Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Audit stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective delivery.
    • Support the Head of IT Governance with management information, insights, and recommendations.
    • Contribute to a positive, collaborative governance culture across Technology.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Support the adoption of best practice frameworks and standards (e.g. ITIL, COBIT, ISO).
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Technology and assurance activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in IT governance, IT risk, IT controls, audit, or assurance roles.
  • Strong understanding of IT control frameworks and governance best practice.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting internal and external IT audits.
  • Proven experience managing or leading teams.
  • Ability to engage confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in regulated or complex organisational environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards such as ISO 27001, ISO 20000, COBIT, or ITIL.
  • Experience supporting quality assurance, testing, or control effectiveness activities.
