Canopius is seeking a skilled claims adjuster to join the Specialty Products claims team. The role involves supporting the Specialist Consumer Products underwriters with a range of products including, but not limited to, travel, personal accident, mortgage, and income payment protection. There is also an opportunity to collaborate closely with the A&H claims team, which underwrites similar products. Our underwriters have extensive experience in the insurance market, underwriting a wide variety of risks. This provides a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to develop comprehensive knowledge across these lines of business.

We are looking for an experienced claims professional with knowledge of handling claims in the London insurance market. The individual will serve as a key referral point, responsible for building relationships both internally and externally with Canopius’ Delegated Claims Administrators. Acting as a subject matter expert for the portfolio, they will collaborate with the underwriting team. The SCP & A&H claims teams are part of the wider Specialty Product Division, alongside Equine and Credit & Political Risk, within the Claims function. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to cross-train into other classes of business for personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of claims within the A&H and SCP portfolio.
  • Ensure that financial provisions are maintained and reported appropriately.
  • Proactively adjust claims within authority limits, ensuring high service standards and effective claims resolution.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, especially underwriters.
  • Instruct and work with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to achieve the best outcomes while managing costs and claims leakage.
  • Manage delegated claims in accordance with Canopius’ claims values, overseeing TPAs/Service Providers through regular contact, peer reviews, and sharing best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in reviewing and assessing policy coverage for claims in the A&H and SCP classes or other classes of business.
  • Preferably, experience as a claims handler in the London market.
