Canopius require an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the Change Team in Manchester Centre of Operational Excellence office.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of complex, strategic projects across the Change portfolio. The role leads end-to-end project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring initiatives are delivered within scope, time, cost, and quality parameters, while driving strong stakeholder alignment and business outcomes. Operating across Change, Technology, Data, and Operations, the role plays a key part in embedding delivery standards, improving project capability, and enabling successful transformation outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Project & Programme Delivery
    • Lead end-to-end project delivery, from initiation through to implementation and benefits realisation.
    • Develop and manage integrated project plans, including milestones, critical path and dependencies.
    • Ensure delivery against defined scope, KPIs, timeline, budget and quality standards.
    • Drive structured governance and reporting in line with Change methodology.
  • Planning & Control
    • Define and agree clear, measurable project scope and success criteria.
    • Manage risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, ensuring proactive mitigation and escalation.
    • Oversee resource planning and allocation to ensure effective delivery.
    • Monitor delivery performance and take action to maintain alignment to plan.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships across business, technology and data teams.
    • Lead engagement with senior stakeholders, including C-suite, to ensure alignment and decision-making.
    • Create and manage communication strategies to ensure transparency and engagement.
    • Lead steering committees and governance forums.
  • Delivery Leadership & Transformation
    • Lead cross-functional delivery teams, ensuring alignment and accountability.
    • Drive collaboration across Change, Architecture, Technology and business functions.
    • Support successful adoption of delivered solutions, including rollout planning and stakeholder engagement.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery standards, tools and practices.
  • Portfolio Contribution
    • Identify and manage interdependencies across projects and programmes within the change portfolio.
    • Support portfolio-level planning and prioritisation activities.
    • Contribute to improving delivery capability, standards and consistency across Change.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering complex, large-scale projects or programmes.
  • Strong understanding of project and programme management methodologies (Agile / Waterfall / hybrid).
  • Experience working across business, technology and data environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement at senior leadership level.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risk, dependencies and competing priorities.

  • Proven track record of successful strategic project/programme delivery.
